Re: What vegetables to grow?

Tomatoes, Tomatoes, Tomatoes. We could plant our entire garden of only tomatoes and still not provide enough for the needy. Everyone loves a fresh, homegrown tomato. Last year, our garden harvested over 5400 lbs of them! The main vegetables our elderly enjoy are tomatoes, beans, squash and okra. Tomatoes, beans and squash are easy to grow. Okra love hot summers, but is very labor intensive.

I live in Michigan and have participated in a community garden for the
needy for the last two year. We have been having problems giving our
vegetables away. Could I please hear from other gardeners around the
country and get some tips on what are the most popular vegetables that
they grow to give away to various programs? Thank you so much in
advance for your help.
