negotiating community garden fee hike

  • Subject: [cg] negotiating community garden fee hike
  • From: Grow19@aol.com

At this point, the group shouldn't be offering to negotiate an increase.
But Adam is right that they should discuss it earnestly among themselves and
try to arrive at a what-if consensus. The garden should be treated similarly
to all other recreational land uses and at this point, the garden group should
research what revenue the city has historically gotten from all other
recreational land uses, how much it seeks to get in the future, and how all of the
other constituents of these land uses are feeling about the increases. From
the email that was presented to the list, the city is seeking some sort of
market rate rental amount, and is not treated the community garden as it would
a park.
