Re: hardy ferns


Another suggestion is Dryopteris x australis or the Dixie Wood fern. It grows up to five feet plus if happy. Needs water to get well established and likes wet areas, but will stand dry weather after it is established.

Hi Candy,
You're too cold for Nephrolepis, but do consider some of the dryopteris
especially Dryopteris x complexa 'Robust' and D. wallichiana. Both would
be particularly suitable in the dappled shade area, but would do in deep
shade as well.
