RE: RE: Ferns Digest Subscriptions

Hi Bob,

A digest subscription sends you, at intervals (I think just one a
day or maybe even less frequently) a single message containing
the ferns emails for that interval. I have just subscribed (so now
I'm on both) and I will be able to be more definitive as to how often
that mail is distributed. Once I'm sure about it, I'll send a confirmation
to the group.

A digest subscription is not very dynamic...if that matters to you...
you just get the one message with lots to scroll through and the
message of interest may be recent or old, there may be responses
or not yet in the digest. If an author was on-line and just sent
something that you might want to reply to off-list, it probably won't
happen because the digest comes later and the person may not
still be on-line when you read it...etc.

The advantage of the digest is that your email box isn't filled with
lots of messages...just the one big one. If your ISP charges you
by the message, then this is a financial advantage. Of course if
my ISP did this to me, I'd be looking for a new ISP.
