Subject: [ferns] Isle of Skye
The island Skye in Western Scotland is an exceptional place in harbouring no
less than five horsetail hybrids. Apart from the ubiquitous E. x littorale, E.
x dycei, E. x rothmahleri, E. x font-query and E. x trachyodon have been
reported there.
E. x font-query covering a vast area seems hard to miss, but the other hybrids
too, though of exceedingly rare distribution, apparently build up large
clones.
Is anyone here familiar with their growing sites?
