I live in Brevard, North Carolina (US) and in this part of the country Dennstaedtia punctilobula grows live a weed. It likes sunny areas. Won't grow well in shade and our soils are very acidic. I hope this helps.

Why is the growing of Dennstedtia so danged difficult? Plugs were bought in to work, potted up in 250 sized containers, using Fafard 52 custom mix and a very light top dressing of 14-14-14. Granted the non-stop rain has all but drowned everything, but some plugs from another company grew great guns.Ideas on getting them started? Fertilizer? shade vs. sun?
