Dryopteris

The difficulties presented by Dryopteris are well-recognized -- at least
by me. The appearance of a web resource devoted to the subject appears to
have gone unreported. A 1999 paper in the American Fern Journal titled
"The Cultivated Species of the Fern Genus Dryopteris in the United
States" by Barbara Joe Hoshizaki and Kenneth Wilson was apparently posted
to the web site of the the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County
two years ago. Reach it here:

http://www.nhm.org/research/botany/Cultivated_Dryopteris/home.html

Originally a 100 page assessment of 50 species, its keys are among the
most staight-forward I've encountered. Many of the illustrations will be
recognized by readers of the revised Hoshizaki/Moran "Fern Grower's
Manual."

Google could only find one link to this page. Not one of the 1000+ pages
with Dryopteris in the title, not one fern organization.

So, now, to the taxonomic difficulties we must add its invisibility.
