it's jargon for the plant material--shrubs, trees, sod--that we tear out in preparation for installing a new landscape. it ends up being about 50 percent top soil because it's done mechanically for the most part.

A certified grade is what you really want, if it can be found - not
everyplace has soil companies who can or do certify...but it's about
the best way to get what you think you're getting:-)
