mystery plant of the day

this mystery plant stuff must be contagious. some presumably kind person dropped off a plant here at the plantation when we were not here. it's in a 3-gallon pot and has a big homemade label pasted on the side of it. on the label someone has written "garcinia lateriflora." seems to be a native of malaysia and a relative of the mangosteen. the common name is "kariis," so i wondered if any of you tropical travelers had every heard of it?
