Cathy, I was always under the impression that Louisianas were somewhat
tender.  The only book I have with me, Botanica, says Zones 7 to 10, though
this book has been a bit off on hardiness listings.  Still, I wouldn't have
expected a Louisiana to do better than Z6.  So if you still have half in
Zone 5, I'd say you're doing well.
