Great egret just strolled up the driveway to within 10 feet of me. It tried to spear an anole, but failed. About that time Beans decided to protect me. She went into her crouch-sneak fearless-huntress mode. The egret, of course, had no trouble spotting a black cat in the middle of a concrete driveway, and flew to the other side of the street.
