Gentian violet is for yeast infections such as thrush. As Ceres wrote, it is very different from trench mouth.
Cathy, who should learn to keep her mouth shut sometimes.....!

My mother painted my mouth with that awful flourescent purple stuff -- "something" violet. As if having a mouth like that wasn't bad enough. <LOL>
