RE: Just in case you heard...

Wow, Mardi. I'm glad she was O.K.!

I feel for the kids on campus too. I'm glad the school is being flexible.
I take it they didn't cover insurance for the students' belongings.

Way back in the late 60's, I got to witness a tornado take out the hall
across the street from my dorm room. (Dumb me. I ran back upstairs to
quickly grab a book so I could study in the basement shelter.) Fortunately,
none of the dorms had severe damage. Still, I'd never want to witness that

Hi folks. Melody was correct - quite the tornado that roared through Iowa
City last Thursday night. Mom is okay, but two blocks from her it's total
chaos. Of course she found two library books that were overdue and decided
she'd better return them even though it was pouring out. Didn't have the
news on and ended up in the middle of a hailstorm on I-80. Just made it
home before the tornado touched down. Quite the damage. My co-workers'
daughter was in one of those apartments close to campus that had it's roof
and east wall blown off. Amazing no one there was killed.

The University is giving the students options for finishing the semester.
Take the grade you've got now, finish the semester, or finish the semester
at a later date. Many kids lost textbooks, notes, computers, etc.
