Great day Theresa! I wonder if I bought garter snakes, would they stay or would the cats scare them off?

Well- I'm sorry you had rain, but delighted to say if rained last night, and today was wonderful! 65 and sunny. I spent the whole day outside, got most of the CalHort plantsale finds into the ground. I am particularly pleased with the Choisya that is now in bloom and smells wonderful. It's new home is on the corner near the path into the yard. I did some weeding, pruned a few things, checked and repaired minor issues with the drip irrigation, moved a couple of plants (like a sedum that has NEVER bloomed in 3 years. and it better bloom in it's new home or it's out of here!). And I'm so tickled, it seems that a garter snake has decided to hang out in my garden! Yeah! I saw him off and on today, and I'm hoping my presence in the garden hasn't scared him off. Oh, and I completely (hopefully) dug out one of my california fuschia plants. The otherone I dug a bunch out, and installed a semicircular barrier (lawn edging) around the small patch that remained in hope of controlling the crazy plant. I quickly realized that I wouldn't be able to salvage any of the dug out plants for Cyndi- as getting it out involved lots of digging, yanking, pulling and getting ripping the heck out of the plant. So, it's good she got herself a new on recently. Oh, in addition, I have a little flock of yellow warblers happily eating some of the billion mosquitos we have this year, and also the aphids off my roses. So, they are also a very welcome additon this year! The pink half of my dogwood is blooming now too- it is just lovely this year. The buds actually got a chance to open, rather than getting fried in the sun and sort of mangled like it usually does.

I swear I must be cold-blooded (I do have an affinity for reptiles and
amphibians), as I can never get warm enough when theres a chill in the air.
I finally took a long, hot shower and now Im feeling toasty! Yet, as I type
this note, it looks like the sky is brighter and the rain has slowed down to
a reasonable drizzle. It may be time to head back outdoors!
