Re: Herb Suggestion

Most people do actually. There are several species, but the variegated one is particularly pretty. I honestly thought it was strictly for ornamental use until I started at the Garden Gate and my manage said it was actually great for cooking. So there ya go. There is also a variety that is used for an ornamental shade plant called Plectranthus 'Mona Lavender' I have some in my back yard and it is just stunning. Looks completely different than the Cuban oregano variety. Dark green, large fuzzy leaves and lavender salvia like blooms. So pretty and it gets big enough to make a real impact in the shade garden.

Thanks Andrea. Bonnie sent me an article off the chat group so I can
read some more about it. And it's a beautiful plant too! Some herbs get
all stringy looking or unsightly, this one does not. I'd grow it just
for it's appearance!!

Excellent. I'll have to locate that plant this summer. Thanks Bonnie.

Cuban Oregano. It's a very thick, fleshy, fuzzy leafed variety that has
marvelous aromatic qualities and wonderful flavor. It also mixes very well
with lemon when cooking chicken.

O.K., I think I missed an e-mail in here...exactly WHAT herb are you
putting
on the roast Bonnie? I've been scanning the other e-mails and can't seem
to
find the answer.
