RE: Earth Day

That's true, I was just talking about xeriscape trees the other day. I
have been looking around for Arizona cypress and I'm not seeing any dead
ones like I did years back, so that seems promising. I still mean to try
and root some cuttings off my desert willow too.
I checked on the plants I put along my back fence a couple weeks ago.
Two of them are simply gone - one saltbush and one seedling pine. Not
coincidentally, I'm sure, they are not ones where I used chicken wire
under the rootball as a gopher barrier. One larger seedling pine has had
the tips gnawed off, probably rabbits, but we'll see what happens to it.
I may simply end up potting up my own tree seedlings in 5-gallon pots
and waiting a few years to put them out there, it's getting too
discouraging to plant stuff that disappears despite the cocoons I'm
trying to wrap around them.

that's the nice thing about cedars, no supplemental watering needed.
