Donna, we had them a few years ago. There is a slight possibility of damage to fruit trees, but they do not cause any major damage to anything.

Not pushing trees this year without also telling them to net them. The 17-year cicadas (also known as, Magicicadas, periodical cicadas, "locusts") are coming to the Mid West this year! Am I to assume you guys don't get them? I am debating about netting my trees- but since 17 years ago, my yard was a corn field without any trees, I am hoping there won't be many. This will be their 18th year in existence. We have about 33 exhibitors inside the rustic Lakehouseand another 20 exhibitors outside on the porch and grassy areas. As for myself, I am presenting an Organic Gardening Class at the gardencenter where I work and we hope to sell many carbon eating trees this weekend. betsy ----- Original Message ----- From: "james singer" <islandjim1@verizon.net> To: "Garden Chat" <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Tuesday, April 17, 2007 1:07 PM Subject: [CHAT] Earth DaySo... who's going to celebrate Earth Day? And how? Seems to me, I should do something, but I don't know what. It's not exactly the kind of event where you just light a candle then head for the nearest tap room. At a minimum, it seems to require some sort of oath taking or resolution making or symbolic action [something short of taking a cutting torch to a neighbor's Hummer]. Maybe I should just plant another tree or something. Suggestions?
