I'm cooking what I can for Buddy (mostly rice and chicken, and noodles and beef) , and Dreyfuss is getting some old Pro-plan mixed with meat juice and rice. Dreyfuss had quit eating it several months ago (wanting the pouch stuff that I was feeding Buddy), so I'm hoping its safe. I'm also hoping that the Friskies Dry cat food remains ok. The dogs and the cat both eat a lot of the cat food.
I'm kind of afraid to make cat food, since they need practically perfect nutrition. Sometimes I wish I'd let him remain an outdoor kitty. I'm sure he'd be nice and full of mice and birds and not need much supplementation. But then, I'd be mad at him for eating "my" birds, or he'd have been eaten by a hawk. :-( Between a rock and a hard place.
I wonder how many more pets were poisoned because people like me stopped buying wheat gluten products and the rice contamination wasn't known? And how many bought "small" brands like the Blue Buffalo stuff or the Venison products. Who'd think that anything that sounded that healthy could be that bad?
