The landscape crew where I work was out here digging up all the daffodil
and tulips bulbs and replanting summer stuff. I asked them what they
were going to do with all those bulbs. They said they were THROWING THEM
AWAY! They gave me three trash bags full of BULBS...for FREE!!! WOO HOO.
You may be disappointed next year. The daffs probably won't
bloom again for a couple of years, but they will finally come
through. The tulips may not. If you can bury them deeply they
have a better chance, but both kinds need to be able to mature
their foliage if they are to bloom again.
A garden club I used to belong to would collect leftover potted bulbs
from a florist after the spring season and plant them in the town
park. It would usually take at least two years before they produced
any more blooms, and then only the daffs were reliable. Tulips often
just disappeared.
Anyway, have fun. I wish you luck.
