Donna, have you tried preen? It does work. You'd need to apply twice, 10 weeks apart, but it is so easy. If you don't like the look of the little yellow granuals, just toss a bit of mulch over it.

I tried to overwinter them inside a long time ago... about March they died.

What I did find is reasonable plugs for common annuals on ebay tho. This year I am not doing any so if figures. Between my moms surgeries/recovery time and all that needs to be done at home and work, figured I wouldn't have time to water them. I really need some time to restructure the gardens, so maybe I 
will get to that...and there is always that blasted weeding to do...

Sorry, they're not hardy for me either. I sometimes will buy 1 if the water 
is getting icky, but otherwise I just make do with parrot feather. Parrot
feather drops to the bottom of the pond in the winter, then comes up when the 
weather warms.

hyacinth and even that is nuts! Yes, some of my pond friends get together

buy that way to save money.  Last year we bought 200 lot to split between
