Re: Ex-husbands was Tomato plants

Wonderful Auralie, you give me hope. One of the things I love to read in The Church News is Milestones, commemorates people who are centennarians and couples who have been married 60 years or more. You and Chet are almost there! ----- Original Message ----- From: <Aplfgcnys@aol.com>

I guess I am some kind of freak. I met my husband in kindergarten. His
family moved from our town when we were in 7th grade but we kept in touch
through the years and reconnected when we were both in college - I at FSU
and he at Princeton. By then I was two years ahead of him since he had
lost two years to WWII. We've been married 57 years come July. I won't
say there haven't been rocky spells, but then we're both stubborn. Marrying me was the only rebellious thing Chet ever did in his life, but I was always what my grandmother called "willful." Neither of our families approved, but
here we are.

Same here Tricia (not only are we distant relatives by marriage, but we seem

found my current husband. We both love the animals. No way could I end up
with somebody who doesn't go as crazy about animals as I do. In fact, I
think he's worse.

I am so very, very lucky. I met my sweetie when we were in the high school
band together. He was a senior, I was a sophomore. We dated while in
school,
then went our separate ways for several years until he came to visit me
on
New Year's Eve. I was in the hospital for my first knee operation and he
was
in the army. We got together then and haven't been apart since. That was
1968. We'll be married 38 years in August.
There's not a mean bone in his body. He cares for me and the animals
whenever we need it, even when we're broken down and useless.

Mine wasn't an alchoholic like Jesse's, just someone with a really stupid
sense of humor. Also, he resented my attachment to this cat, so I
think it
might have been projection to some degree. He wasn't as mean to our
other
cat, one who came to us after we were together. Yes, he did this before
we
married, but I guess I thought he'd grow out of it.
