Thanks Cathy-

So I have ordered a fungicide to try on my hydrangea, and also cleaned up all of the debris around it and confirmed that irrigation is not leaking there.  Just has been a weird year for rain I guess.  There are columbine growing in the same area that were also affected, and so ripped most of them out.   Regarding the pluot- I have confirmed it is plum leaf curl caused by plum aphids.  Sprayed the heck out of it with water blast from the hose and hoping ladybugs will come help out.  May also have to resort to using some insecticidal soap.   We shall see how this works out.

Your pluot (?plum - apricot cross) could very well have peach leaf curl, as all those stone fruits probably share genes.

Are you sure that the hydrangea has root rot? I have never experienced it with my oakleaf hydrangeas, which have grown 20 years in an area where I had had rhododendrons that did contract it. Of course, I live in a different part of the country (IL).  A lot of things can cause wilt and not all attack roots...some plug the plants vascular system. Clip an affected stem - does the vascular system look normal? I lost a lovely Japanese Maple to verticillium wilt, but don't know if something similar attacks hydrangeas. Not much help, but good luck.

Well my garden seems determined to keep me busy this spring.  I have 2 issues currently.  First I noticed a couple of wilty branches on my oakleaf hydrangea-  looked it up and apparently they are susceptible to root rot.  Anybody know if I can do anything to save this lovely plant??

Second- my pluot that has never had a bug or disease ever- has curled up leaves (looks like peach leaf curl- but it is  not a peach!).  Thoughts or ideas anyone?

Thanks and stay well.
