I found someone who grew it.  She said:

"I had this one two years ago. It was gorgeous but was difficult to
photograph, as you can see. It is hot pink with an orange cast which gives
it a fabulous look (should have been called "cerise perfection").
Specifically how it gave the look-I can't say because I accidentally pulled
it up and gave away, thinking it was another kind of phlox--What a Big
Mistake! I have been looking for a replacement."

I guess you have to look at it at just the right angle, in just the right
light, to see the orange cast.
