Agree, Jesse, that weed eater is a gem. I think the real reason it is so much better than previous generation electrical garden stuff is the advance in battery technology that has [finally] begun to occur. The battery is both long lasting and powerful enough to crank out high RPM over an extended period of time. This was not possible 10 years ago.

By the way Jim (and any of you who might be interested...) I just LOVE my Black and Decker Weed Eater that you recommended. I've quit tilling all over the place...and now I'm weed-eating and edging everything on the place. My husband, of course, was thrilled. It is not so heavy that it kills my back, I don't have to keep "bumping" it to feed out the cord, it does it automatically and I should have bought one of these a long, long time ago!!
As for your bumble bee visitor...we've had a lot of those too...all over
my giant sunflowers, squash and pumpkins. I LOVE those little guys.

Grass is way to wet to cut and by next weekend it will likely be 2 feet tall. Two real pleasures, however. First, one of the cactus cuttings I potted in the last couple of weeks is blooming. A small yellow flower on one of the whortleberries, which means I'm going to taste that fruit before long [it's supposed to be very good, but we're all adults here and know that enthusiasts tend to lie]. Second, when I was heading out with the weedeater this morning to rescue the Buddha's hand citron from the weeds, I had to nearly wade through a stand of Mexican petunias [Ruellia brittoniana or something like that] and just as I approached it, I saw a bumblebee enter one of the Ruellia's flowers and completely disappear down the flower's throat. Wish I'd had my camera rather than my weedeater. With pollinators like that, it's no wonder these things seed themselves around.
