Baptisa are perennial... not indestructible, Kathy
So yep, they can be killed. I know for certain since I kept them too wet over winter in pots the first time I had them here. Killed quite a few.

I'm embarrassed to admit I killed my baptisia! It took a couple of years to
bloom well and then the next year it simply didn't appear. Perhaps I mulched it
along with other things in that bed and managed to smother it or caused rot.
