neglected daylilies

I just dug up some daylilies.  I bought them 20 yrs ago and moved them a few
years later where they stayed until now.  Only a few still bloomed.  I dug
up the mess, and they seemed quite healthy, just desperate for some
breathing room.  I potted up 68 quarts and about 20 gallons.  Do you think
they will be revived or did I just waste my time?
