I suspect that much of the difference in gasoline prices is caused by state and local taxes, at least here in Florida. We have no state income tax, so everything else is taxed in odd and peculiar ways. Gasoline in my county, for example, is 2 cents a gallon higher than gasoline in the next county south of me, which has a lower local sales tax.
