Peppers don't cross pollinate like that.. From what I have learned, the
hotter the weather is when the fruit sets, the hotter the pepper will be.
But sweet peppers don't get hot...did you plant from seed or plants? You
might have gotten a mislabeled plant or seed packet, as there are hot banana
peppers as well.
