Re: Orchid ID

Jim, I sent your orchid picture to Bill Smiles, our local orchid guru
and past president of the Westchester Orchid Society. He was
away for the weekend, but arrived at our meeting today armed
with reference books, etc. He says he has never seen this one,
but based on color, shape, etc., he thinks a Brassia x Odontoglossum
cross. He thinks such might be called Odontobrassia. You have
probably solved your puzzle by now, by consulting your local
nurseryman, but I thought I would pass this on. He would be glad
to know the answer.

Auralie, I have to put in a 'but' here. But Odontoglossums don't
have large lips as Jim's does, so that's why I chose Brazilian
Miltonia as the 'other' parent. At least Mr. Smiles and I have
opted for Brassia as one parent :-).
