new day new problem... low grow sumac

My low grow sumac is dieing and I don't know how to help it.
 
About 3 days ago I noticed it starting to wilt. I searched for a bug...
nope.... The ground was not overly wet nor dry and even gently moved
some of the dirt around it (with my hands, not a shovel) to see if I
could find some root damage or something. Granted, I was only looking on
the very surface, but didn't want to go digging since it already had
issues.

 
today it looks like a gonner.... 
 
Anyone got an idea, I would love to save it, but don't know how.
 
it is not an old plant... bought last fall and has been doing wonderful till now.
