Re: What's happened to summer?
Yes, but the other Farmer's Almanac says a mild winter.
One is called The Farmer's Almanac and the other is called The Old Farmer's
Almanac.

I hear that the Farmer's Almanac is predicting an unusually cold winter,
and around here, the biological signs of a hard winter are showing
themselves.

This is still August? It's been in the low 50s for several nights
this week. Had to break out the blankets. Temperatures didn't
get above 70 yesterday, and here at 9:30 in the morning it's
only 63. And dry as a bone. We haven't had a drop of rain in
more than two weeks, and then only a couple of brief showers.
The last really hot weather we had was back in July. I first heard
the katydids around the middle of July, and thought to myself
that's a warning of an early fall. Now I'm seeing the dogwood
berries turn red - always a first sign. Some trees are just looking
brown, I think from the drought. I guess it's time to decide about
spring bulbs.
