Re: just checking

We're having really cool weather 50's at night, 60's to low 70's daytime. Supposed to be back in the 90's later this week. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Aplfgcnys@aol.com>

Here's hoping everyone is well. It's been extremely quiet.

After a very cool spring and early summer, we are finally getting some
real summer weather. It's in the upper 80s today and is predicted to
be there for the next week. I'm blaming the strange weather for my
disastrous garden - the only thing producing is beans and a few cherry
tomatoes that I have hanging in pots under the eaves in my breezeway.
However, thanks to my Lyme disease flare-up, I haven't been able to
do much to help. At least I finally have a doctor who will acknowledge
that I have Lyme - not that there's much he can do about it.

I used to have a good pickle recipe, but don't know where I put it...

When I was a child, my grandmother used to make nine-day pickles.
Three days in lime water, three days in brine, and three days in a
vinegar-mustard seed solution, then packed in jars, the vinegar
brought to a boil and poured over them before sealing. That's
probably a lot more trouble than you are interested in.

just checking.... seems like forever since I seen a message here.

Here on the home front, it's hot, it's gonna rain, the weeds are thriving,
mom's getting better, I have a zillion cucumbers and reading recipe books on
what to do with them all....

anyone got a bread and butter recipe? I love the stackers on my sandwiches,
wondering if I could do something like that.
