An entrance arch sounds lovely. Poetic, too - entrance to a new life.
I don't know whether you have a Lowes or other store with a large lumber
section, but an acquaintance found a design that she liked, took pictures
and measurements of it, and brought it to Lowe's. She went a couple of times
and found an old guy that was really into carpentry.
They were able to find all the pieces that she needed with just a little
custom cutting. I don't know whether that would work for you, but it would
certainly be less than $2500.

Thanks Daryl,
I am wanting a new entrance arch for my garden The one I have now is
about 15 years old, seriously rotted at the base and in the process of
falling over. While in New Harmony, IN a few weeks back I saw a custom
arch
in an old garden that I really liked. Want to take the concept I saw and
add
my touch to it, get a decent carpenter to construct it for me.
I did get an estimate on a moongate entrance I really liked that I
saw at Fernwood in MI...but carpenter wanted $2,500+ for materials and
labor....cannot spend that much for an entrance to my garden. (but it sure
was neat)

Congratulations, Gene.
A new hardscape project sounds like just the thing you need to celebrate.
Do
you have a project in mind?
