I think the subject was titled autumn planting because Pam was referring to plants she ordered to be delivered for autumn planting. Not right now. 
Still...
Here in neIN autumn is considered Late Sep-October-early Nov. But autumn planting for perennials is late Aug-September.

Ya think?  Your purchases sound great.  It's so hot here I can hardly keep
the flowers at work alive.  Thankfully, I have very tough, old-fashion
plants in my very grassy gardens. This year there was no datura -- a result 

of our very cold winter.  I miss it; however, I have an over abundance of
Artemesia annua. In past years I've enjoyed 3 or 4 plants, but right now I 
have a forest of them.  My house will smell really good this winter.
Anybody up for seeds?

Well God help me, I just placed my fall order at High Country Gardens.  2
Grosso lavenders, 2 Kim's knee high echinaceas, 2 Eryngium 'Big Blue' (sea holly), 1 Arizona Sun gaillardia & 1 Firewitch dianthus. Most of that is 
for planting in chimney flue liners, pots & raised beds.  One fine day it
will be cooler here again.  LOL

Anyone making fall plans yet?   if so, what's on the agenda??
