When does it get cool enough for you to plant the narcissus? Here, they pop up before winter if we plant them much before Thanksgiving.

I plant a lot of narcissus. The double narcissus are not good performers
here so I only have a few of them. I like the species tulips I've tried;
I don't plant the big showy ones as they come back as foliage only and
it's a pain to pull them up. I have Dutch iris, galanthus, crocus,
muscari, and alliums as well. The folks who owned the house before us
planted freesias, I have left some of them and they will bloom if the
winter hasn't been too cold.
A friend of mine has a nice planting of Iphion in her border so I am
thinking about trying those next year.
In the fall I don't have too much blooming: asters, roses, sedum,
gaillardia and coreopsis if I've managed to keep them deadheaded.
Rabbitbrush (chrysothamnus) blooms nicely in the dry garden, although I
feel like I can't take credit for that since I didn't plant it - it's a
native that established itself. Also in the dry garden is zauschneria.

Do y'all plant spring bulbs? If so, what kind and when? What perennials
bloom
in the fall for you?
