I've grown the species, Ipheion uniflorum, Spring Starflower, for over 10 years. Very reliable. I also put in some of the cultivar, I. u. 'Wisely Blue' and the hybrid cultivar I. 'Rolf Fiedler' a few years ago. They're more richly hued and both have the RHS Award of Garden Merit. Still, I think I like the species best.

I didn't know it was that hardy.I love Iris 'Immortality'. It's one of my favorites. It doesn't usuallyre-bloom for me, though. I think it gets shaded out by other plants. d ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Browning" < judylee@lewiston.com> To: <gardenchat@hort.net> Sent: Sunday, August 08, 2010 4:22 PM Subject: Re: [CHAT] Western Gardener ?s I've planted hyacinth orientales, wood hyacinth, hyacinthoides, tulip, narcissus, mini daffodils, chinodoxa, convallaria, crocus, galanthus, ipheon, iris, lilium, muscari, gladiolus, scilla, colchicum that multiply & spread for me.
