Thanks. I gave them the answer of pansies, snapdragons, dianthus and maybe calendula, candytuft and stock. That's part of a list I found for Las Vegas, which is in the same sunset zone. That list included petunias, but that seems odd to me, since it goes below freezing.

That's me! Although, hmmm, I don't plant many annuals...let me think.
One of the big things in this zone is how much wind they'll be exposed
to. I know for sure I've seen pansies, ornamental kale, dianthus, and
snapdragons. I think sweet peas might do well in late winter.
