So happy to hear all who were on the "business end" of Irene are safe! I spent the past week helping my middle daughter and her family get settled at Eielson Air Force Base near Fairbanks, AK. No time to sightsee, with all the unpacking, but loved what I saw. I think my daughter will concentrate on annuals, since the garden space is quite small. Saw spectacular annual plantings throughout the city. Would love to live there , at least part of the year. Hard to believe that the second biggest city in Alaska is smaller than Quincy, IL, where I live now!
