Yes...my hummers love the petunias as well. ÂI find that if I plant some in the early spring, near where the feeders will go, they will show up on time...every time.
I don't mind petunias...but they did much better for me in Texas than they do here in Oklahoma. ÂBy mid summer they look thinned and droopy.

I love the words "charm" or "hover". ÂI've never seen a group of them being charming, at least to one another.

Regarding drawing them to the feeders - when I was helping in a friend's greenhouse some years back I noticed that they would always go for the Petunia baskets. As much as I despise Petunias, when I can't get them to come to the feeder, I get a basket of Petunias and hang it nearby. They find the feeder. :-) Â Once they are accustomed to the feeder, I let the nasty, smelly Petunias die.

Hummers have remarkable memories. ÂI have had them come back year after year, and stare at me through the kitchen window if the feeder isn't where it's supposed to be.

We have several hummingbirds visiting the yard. They enjoy the trumpet creeper and jewelweed and Salvia guaranitica the best.
