the vertical rotisserie is a fairly old invention, maybe older than the horizontal. but that "arab" bread is really pita, and pita is the main flat bread of the middle east--not necessarily arab. flat breads--tortillas, pitas, chapatis--are the main breads of the world. we are the only country of the world that eats that god-awful wonder bread stuff.
