Re: life IS good/family

You're right about that girl. My cat is better cared for and supervised than most of the kids in my neighborhood. Makes me CRAZY I tell ya...
No, I WON'T get on that soapbox and drive everyone nuts...
Merry Christmas/Happy New Year to all!!

> Pam: Trust me on this one...sometimes the family you make for yourself is way better than the family you are given by no choice of your own...And I think it is really difficult for people who have made the choice to have children to comprehend sometimes how other people could make a choice to not have children...it is a baffling concept to them because they cannot imagine their lives without children. I have a brother in law and his wife, who are incredibly loving people who have chosen to never have kids and at first I couldn't understand this but over these many years, I can see how this is a good decision for them...it suits both of them very well, personality wise. Also, again...there really are people in this world who should not be parents but unfortunately go around indiscriminately breeding like there is no tomorrow and look where that gets kids today...

I knew when I was 15 that I didn't want kids. And after two broken engagements (a blessing in both cases) I realized I prefer being alone. I bought a small house w/ a managable piece of land and resolved to have all the really heavy work done in my forties. I'm almost there w/ four years and 5 months to go. The maintenance is less strenous and will be ok as I get older. I stay active and have no inclination or desire to change that. And I do have the family I've chosen which makes all the difference in the world. So I believe I'm on the right track. I could be wrong of course, but I hope not. And hope springs eternal, n'est pas
