RE: Mt. Healthy

Welcome aboard, fellow Buckeye! (OK, so I'm still a Hoosier at heart, but
after nearly 2 decades here, I feel akin to both Hoosiers and Buckeyes. :>D)
I don't know if you know where Centerville or Washington Twp. are, but there
are a couple of us about 20-30 minutes from Northern Cincinnati.

Blessings,

Bonnie (SW OH - zone 5)_

Subject: [CHAT] Mt. Healthy

To Peg in Va:

I live in East Walnut Hills but was raised in North College Hill.
(For everyone else, this is a neighborhood adjacent to Mount Healthy.)

To Kitty:
Mt. Healthy received it's name early in the 1800's because it was used as
a refuge from diseases like cholera. Cincinnati sits on the Ohio River,
in a basin, surrounded by hills. In summer, people who could afford to
do so, went looking for better air and fewer insects. Cincinnati still
suffers from air inversions when smoggy air hangs for days without
moving. During the summer the EPA constantly monitors and reports 'air
alerts'.

Merry Christmas to everyone!
