donna, most botanical gardens have vehicles--john deere "gators," for example--that they use to haul new plant material and mulch and spray equipment around in. maintenance is always machine intensive on a large property. also, to plant [or transplant] large specimens, they often need a boom truck. and, yes, this is florida--sand to the center of the earth. without some kind of stabilization, anything heavier than a golf cart can really tear up the countryside.
