Hi Dave...I may be late on this subject (have had company for the holidays)..but I have a jade plant and sometimes my cat will knock a few of the older leaves off...I just stick the ends in the dirt around it and most of the time they will root. But, I plant my jade tree in totally different soil than my other houseplants. My jade and my Christmas cactus...and the star cactus that Jim Singer sent me...all get planted in a mixture of sand, potting soil and a smidge of peat. The sand helps hold the plant and cuttings in place and the peat keeps it from packing down too hard. Sometimes, if I have it handy, I'll dip the small end of the jade leaf into a rooting compound and stick it in the dirt...they usually end up rooting faster. Hope that helps.

The stems are about a nickel width. What's the best way to root these? Will they root in water?
