Judah Makabee was making a last stand against the Romans and they only
had one day of oil left but it lasted 8 days. Hence the 8 candles and
the name Festival of Lights. BTW, good luck finding the preferred
spelling of Hanukkah. It's changed so many times since I was a kid.
