Re: link to Tricia's pictures.

Kitty,
Just common Bermuda..... terrible to keep out of the flowerbeds.
We just mowed it a little shorter to clean up the leaves and get as many clippings for my newest new bed. I scalped off a new area and plan to move some shrubs from around the property then put down newspapers and grass clippings on top.
I have a vitex shrub and a mock orange that don't get enough sun or are too crowded to grow to maturity that I plan to move out to the newest bed. Should keep me busy this winter.

I know I'm not helping but, what kind of grass makes up your lawn, Tricia?

I got this message from Tricia:

This is the snowball that I want to replace. The first picture is a close
up, the 2nd is further out and then even further out so that you can see how
much room and shade I will have. I am thinking the Leatherleaf Mahonia is a
good idea but a little worried about the leaves being so pokey... it could
be hard to get by some day!

What a wonderful gardening setting you have :) But I think the thorns are
you going to get you there in a few years.
