I have had large male cats (males are always less intelligent
than females) tangle with raccoons several times - always
with disastrous results. The outcome is usually a paw with
a deep puncture wound that gets infected. Once it was the
tail that was bitten. We were sorry for the poor guy, but he
did look funny with his tail hanging at half-mast. Our current
dim male is such a pussy-cat that he rarely leaves the house
and anything strange sends him into a panic. The girls are
quite sturdily courageous, but watch from a distance. When
they are safely inside behind a window or glass door, however
they express themselves quite noisily.
