My first wife and I had a male cat named Orpheus. He was mostly white but had a black nose/mustache and a black patch over one eye. Looked sort of like--you know--Hitler.
Orphy was a sweet cat but definitely a few bricks shy.
He often sat in one corner of the dining room and stared at, well, the corner. Like he was a true believer waiting for the second coming.
Anyway, when wife one brought son four home from the hospital, and all the neighbor women gathered to appropriately "ooh" and "aah," Orpheus burst through the cat door with a baby rabbit in his jaws.
One of the Ooers or Aahers screamed and Orpheus--never the most secure hunter in the wilds--dropped his prey.
May I re-focus the scene?
Center stage is a woman who is just home from the hospital sitting on a living room couch, smiling and probably feeling kind of weak and out of it, with a babe in swaddling [whatever that is], and suddenly a baby rabbit is racing for its very life all over the living room--hotly chased by a cat the looks a lot like Hitler.
