Re: Clonex--Interim Report

Hi, Kitty. I get somewhat impatient with eBay [and thoroughly dislike PayPal], so I googled it and found it somewhere [don't recall at the moment] for about 60 percent of Charley's price. That's probably still a lot more than I needed to pay, but that little jar is bound to last a long, long time.

Jim, that sounds like pretty good results so far. Clonex is pricey, but if
it gives better results, especially for difficult cuttings, it can be worth
it. If you decide to get more , do try ebay. I paid 75% less than
Charley's. I haven't tried it yet, but plan to do a bit in late winter and
a lot come spring and summer.

Subject: [CHAT] Clonex--Interim Report

Two weeks ago, I set out 16 cuttings treated with Clonex. I checked the
cuttings today. All seem to be surviving for now; some appear to be
budding from leaf axils. The cuttings were from two sources--Barbados
cherries, a shrubby bush, and Jamaican cherries, a fast-growing
[trashy?] tree. When I tugged at a few of both cuttings, they seemed
anchored in the rooting medium, which I took to indicate roots, but I
dig not dig any up to visually check.

Both of these plants are difficult--but not impossible--to root without
hormone treatment. But because all 16 of these cuttings look viable,
I'm excited about the usefulness and efficacy of Clonex. Two weeks
hence I'll check them again and dig up a few.
