OK guys, if you go to http://www.projo.com/, the Providence newspaper, they have the story on the front page with a slide show of the unfortunate tree denuded -- I have only a dial-up connection so did not wait around for the whole thing but it's there --

A longer version of this AP article was in my morning paper. I
unsuccessfully searched the net for a reprint that included the photo.


It's a Charlie Brown Christmas for Rhode Island's official Christmas
tree. The 18-foot Colorado blue spruce lost its needles and died after
Statehouse workers in Providence dried it with commercial fans and
sprayed it with a fire-retardant chemical.


Duh!
